WELCOME to the Comanche County – Lawton CERT        This website provides information on the Comanche Lawton CERT programs.

Vision

The CERT program’s vision is individual preparedness and building a network of prepared citizens who can make a significant difference in their community. We aim to educate and train the public in disaster preparedness, disseminate disaster information, and train and maintain a network of CERT teams. This vision can only be realized with your active participation and commitment. Your involvement is not just appreciated, but it’s also crucial in making our community safer and more prepared.

Mission

The CERT program, an all-volunteer organization, plays a crucial and valued role in enhancing disaster preparedness and all-hazards emergency response for the citizens of Comanche County. Our mission is integral to the Comanche County Emergency Operation Plan (EOP), a multidisciplinary, all-hazards plan establishing standard operating guidelines for emergency responders, the public, and the private sectors during natural and man-made disasters. As part of this plan, the CERT Teams are pivotal in assisting Emergency Management. We accomplish this through community awareness events, training programs, regular practice drills, and volunteer support to the police, firefighter, and emergency management departments in an emergency. Our mission directly impacts the safety and well-being of our community.

 Goals

  • Train residents, employees, businesses, and school personnel in disaster preparedness and emergency response.
  • Promote greater self-sufficiency throughout the community.
  • Maintain a cadre of well-trained individuals who will be prepared to support their families, neighborhood, and community during a disaster.
  • Develop, train, and implement a neighborhood communication system that uses non-digital systems to inform residents and first responders during emergencies and power outages.
